Welcome

~It's not that your parents love their grandkids more. It's that their grandkids remind them of you as a child. And its like getting to love that version of you all over again ~ Tiktok 2024

Little Theo Michael Phillips came into the world on April 12th 2021.  The fourth little human of Krissy and Blair.  Youngest brother of Kade, Bailey and little Oliver.

He also happens to be our eighth grandchild. Named after grandad and boy does he (grandad) like to remind us all about this wonderful achievement of his hahaha.  In fact, we are not allowed to call him Theo, we have to call him Theo Michael (good lord grandad, you can't be serious), sorry folks - he is in actually very serious!

Theo Michael (sorry but Grandad insists I call him by his whole name) decided he didn't want to sleep for his first photos but thats okay he was enjoying following the camera around and it amazed me that he could even see the camera for someone only a few days old!

Below you will see a few sleepy shots but trust me they lasted a few minutes and he was wide eyed once again I actually think that one or two were probably just blinks hahahaha.

We decided to just capture Theo (opps, Theo Michael) on this day and we included the older children a few days later. OMG, he is adorable - please don't grow up too fast.

A mid March maternity session was in need for our fourth daughter Krissy, preganant with her fourth child due in April.

We headed to our go to spot in Centennial Drive in Matamata.

With Krissy looking as stunning as ever, we decided for her final maternity session we would just do this one solo - no hubby or children, after all we can get family photos once little man is born.

He was born the day before his actual due date and on his big brothers due date (two years previously). Little Jackson Xavier Boberg. Second son of Nick and Ella and little brother of Nathan.

I picked out his great grandfathers nose immediately, poor little Jackson I giggled.  He had a mass of dark hair which really throw me as I was expecting him to be bald or close to it like his big brother.  Although we knew he wasn't going to be big, he seemed so teeny weeny to me.

Just three short hours after his birth we got to meet Jackson.  While his mum and dad were walking around the birthing unit room like they had just been shopping!  Ella was up, showered and was absolutely beaming, proving first and second labors can be totally opposite.

The following images were captured a few weeks later when Jackson came to visit, he was six weeks old, how on earth did he get so big in such a short time?  I can't wait to capture their first family session, I really hope that can happen soon. Welcome to the family Jackson, you have made a huge impact already and we couldn't love you more if we tried.

Another year over and like every other human who faced it, I have to say it was a wee bit challenging from time to time.

Unlike many though it wasn't Covid that had the greatest effect on me although it certainly did leave us with some moments I would rather forget!

I had been diagnosed with Graves Disease just weeks prior to New Zealands lockdown and had been having weekly blood tests to montior how I was responding to the medication.

Lets just say that firstly Graves sucks.

As does the medication.

The anxiety.

The weight gain.

The itch - oh the fukin itch!

Vision problems.

Yip it all just sucks.  The one plus - yeah to me it was a plus, I was in the 'high risk' catagory and any excuse not to leave the house was a good one!

My poor husband though, took to his new role like a duck to water and he became the household shopper and I have to say, he was dam good at it so good that he still finds himself going to the supermarket on most occasions - go husband!

But overall I am probably that 1% that was okay with lockdown for the most part - not seeing my grandchildren was not okay and I missed them terribly.

Moving forward though, 2020 did bring someone pretty amazing - this little guy below became a big brother!

We are also expecting another little grandson in April so that's pretty exciting.

Another positive is that we got the pergola attached to the front of the house and now we finally have that sort after 'street appeal' we all hear about on those DIY shows, not that we did this ourselves no, we found ourselves some professionals to take on this task and it looks so good!

My gardens are finally looking awesome thanks to Laura from Garden Answer.  If you haven't checked out her u tube channel you seriously need to do this!  You won't be disappointed.

The downside would have to be when husband lost his job along with 200 other odd people, not that they are odd I meant number wise.... oh well he was one of the lucky ones to be re-hired once the lockdown ended and Hobbition started getting some numbers going through again.  One happy husband.  One grateful wife.

So all in all we have taken the good with the bad because at the end of the day that's really all we can do isn't it?

Of course like many others we are hoping for a better 2021.

Happy New Year everyone.

Stay safe and be kind to others, unless they are arseholes then by all means call them out on it.  Life is too dam short to put up with crap!

November 22nd, 2020.

Moo (my grandson, real name Nathan, aged two) was about to become a brand new big brother which meant that while daddy, mummy and Auntie Tash got to go and have a baby, Moo got to spend the day with Nana (that's me, well one of them)

So as they headed out the door it did cross my mind that we could be in for endless hours of tears, possible tantrums and maybe kicking, and that was just his mother hahaha. No seriously, I did wonder how he would cope as he had only wanted mummy during those early contractions, those early 'fake contractions' (I call them fake because I didn't believe Ella was serious after all she was far too happy for them to be real).  Note to self - fake contractions were in fact real.

Also note to self -  remind Auntie Tash not to go out the night before the due date when playing the role of a birthing partner!

Anyway back to my time with my Moo.

We watched Trash Truck probably about 22 times (omg best kids program on Netfix) his giggle during the pizza scene are some of my favourite moments of the day.  He gave me four heart attacks with his ladder climbing skills or rather was it me not trusting his ladder climbing skills but rest assured he had them down to a fine art!  We played with the stones in the garden, that would probably be frowned upon but lets not tell mum and dad.  Oh yeah and if the water timer is different now - that wasn't us.  We even had a home photography session they are in the collage above, well of course we had to document this milestone!

A very short two hours later, Moo became a big brother at 12.12pm.  Omg it was real contractions!

Little Jackson was born and what a strong and mighty wee boy he is.

We had to get Moo fed and down for a sleep (yes, clearly I did think we had more time).  Aunty Tash dashed back to pick us up but with a tired out two year old we had to wait for his nap time to end.  I think we got to the Birthing Unit a little after 3pm.  Moo meet his little brother, held him of course and soon it was time to head back to Nana and Grandads for a few nights.

During his stay we decided to have another little photoshoot, this time we included his bestie animal friend our little cat Willow.  They are the best of buddies with almost every photo of Moo accomplanied by Miss Willow.

I have included a few of those images below.

Thanks for a fun few days Moo.

Nana spent the next couple of days on a downer because you were so missed but I know mummy, daddy and Jackson needed to have you home to complete their little family unit.

All in all it was the best time and we loved having him. We can't wait for your next sleepover Moo.

Stay tuned for Jacksons newborn session, he's as cute as a button.

Love Nana, Grandad and Willow x
